This painting is created by Evelyn, who was rescued in 2017 together with her little brother Abraham, who was only 4 years old.

It was a warm Sunday. Evelyn and Abraham’s mother was preparing to go to church, but first she had to fetch water. Fetching water is mainly considered a job for women and children. Evelyn went with her mother to assist her.

They used the water to cook a small breakfast and take a bath before going to church.

During the service, the pastor performed a demonic deliverance and out of the blue, he accused Evelyn and Abraham to be possessed by evil spirits.

Evelyn and Abraham´s mother was shocked, and the pastor said that her children could no longer live in her house, otherwise she and her husband would be exposed to the demons. Some of the villagers even discussed the possibility of killing Evelyn and Abraham, before they eventually were outcasted for the entire community.

Since we rescued Evelyn and Abraham, we have done a lot of reunification work in that community and today, we have reached the point where Evelyn and Abraham can spend school holidays with their mother. The love between them is very strong.

Children’s art

Art plays an important role in the children’s development and healing process, as it enables them to express past traumas, while also giving room for creative expressions of ideas and dreams for the present and future.

As one of our children (Joy) once told Anja in art class: ”I feel free when I paint”.

When you purchase a painting created by the children at Land of Hope, you give them a voice in the world that once rejected them. Your support not only heals their wounds, but it also gives them a feeling of being worthy and loved.

All the money from the sale of the children’s art goes entirely to Land of Hope.
