This painting is created by Faith, who was rescued in 2018 together with her sister Peace.
Anja and David were called to a town to investigate a case of two young girls accused of being witches. We found Peace and Faith along the seashore, both barefooted and dirty. The sisters had run away from home, fearing they would be killed.
They had both been severely beaten and tests carried out at the hospital also revealed, that they had been abused.
Faith quickly settled in at Land of Hope and became good friends with the other girls. Today, Faith and Peach have re-established contact with their parents and younger sister. They have spent 3 weeks of Christmas vacation with them, and it went beyond all expectations. When we picked up Peace and Faith, they were not ready to return to Land of Hope.
Faith loves to sing, dance and paint. Last year, Faith painted an artwork with the title “Surving” and described it:
“I was caged in darkness and forced to drink poison from a bottle. Through the little window in my painting, I´m escaping to Land of Hope. It was my light.”
Children’s art
Art plays an important role in the children’s development and healing process, as it enables them to express past traumas, while also giving room for creative expressions of ideas and dreams for the present and future.
As one of our children (Joy) once told Anja in art class: ”I feel free when I paint”.
When you purchase a painting created by the children at Land of Hope, you give them a voice in the world that once rejected them. Your support not only heals their wounds, but it also gives them a feeling of being worthy and loved.
All the money from the sale of the children’s art goes entirely to Land of Hope.
