Wear your support This painting is created by King, who was rescued in 2021 together with Josef and David.
King, Josef and David were brought to Land of Hope by a group of field workers. The 3 boys were found on the street, abandoned and outcasted by the community, accused of being witches.
The rescue of the King, Josef and David happened during the corona lockdowns, which was a very difficult time in Nigeria. Far too many children ended up paying the price for the virus, which was believed by superstitious communities to have been brought to the country by witches.
Although King quickly settled in at Land of Hope, the healing process always takes time. Recovering from physical injuries and malnutrition is just the beginning of the healing process for most child abuse survivors. Even after a child recovers physically from abuse, emotional injuries remain.
Today, King has come a long way, shinning in art class where he loves to paint.
Children’s art
Art plays an important role in the children’s development and healing process, as it enables them to express past traumas, while also giving room for creative expressions of ideas and dreams for the present and future.
As one of our children (Joy) once told Anja in art class: ”I feel free when I paint”.

All the money from the sale of the children’s art goes entirely to Land of Hope.
