This painting is created by Gideon, who was rescued in 2017.
Gideon was living with his grandmother and younger brother when he was accused of being a witch. It was believed that he had passed on evil spirits to a girl in the village, who then turned into a two-headed snake at night. As a result, he was chased out of the village and hid in an abandoned building. Meanwhile, his younger brother, who was only 6 years old, had to take care of their grandmother all by himself. Their grandmother was 87 years old and blind.
Today, his grandmother has passed, but he is very close with his younger brother. He visits him very often to help him, and their bond is very strong.
Children’s art
Art plays an important role in the children’s development and healing process, as it enables them to express past traumas, while also giving room for creative expressions of ideas and dreams for the present and future.
As one of our children (Joy) once told Anja in art class: ”I feel free when I paint”.
When you purchase a painting created by the children at Land of Hope, you give them a voice in the world that once rejected them. Your support not only heals their wounds, but it also gives them a feeling of being worthy and loved.
All the money from the sale of the children’s art goes entirely to Land of Hope.
