When Iyanam was rescued alongside his cousin Ulo, he had already endured unimaginable suffering. His injuries were so severe that he immediately needed medical treatment. Yet behind the pain was a gentle, thoughtful boy with a warm smile and a kind heart.
A few weeks later, Anja returned to Nigeria while pregnant with David Junior. Over the years, a very special bond grew between Iyanam, Ulo, and David Junior. What began when David Junior was still in Anja’s womb has grown into a friendship filled with love, loyalty, and shared memories.
Today, Iyanam is a kind and compassionate young man who has spent most of his life at Land of Hope. He is a beautiful example of what can happen when a child is given safety, love, and the chance to dream again.

Children’s Art
We use art education as a therapeutic tool in our work with the children’s mental health and emotional well-being.
For many of the children, talking about their trauma is difficult. Art classes provide a safe space where they can express feelings and experiences that are hard to put into words. Some children paint scenes from their past, while others focus on their dreams and hopes for the future.
What they all have in common is their remarkable talent. Many of the children have won art and talent competitions across Nigeria.
