This painting was created by Imaobong, whom Land of Hope rescued 8 years ago.

“They accused me of killing my father and called me a witch. They beat me every day. They did not give me food. My mother and others from the village burned me with a hot iron.”

Imaobong was only 6 years old when we rescued her. She had endured unimaginable cruelty and was living in constant fear. Her body carried the scars of what she had been through, and rebuilding her life took strength far beyond her years.

But Imaobong has always been determined.

Today, she is a strong, hardworking young woman who pours her heart into everything she does. Whether in school, in art, or in pursuing her dreams, she approaches every challenge with focus and resilience. In a few years, she will begin university, and we have no doubt that she will do exceptionally well.

Her story is not defined by what happened to her, but by who she has chosen to become ❤️

Children’s Art

We use art education as a therapeutic tool in our work with the children’s mental health and emotional well-being.

For many of the children, talking about their trauma is difficult. Art classes provide a safe space where they can express feelings and experiences that are hard to put into words. Some children paint scenes from their past, while others focus on their dreams and hopes for the future.

What they all have in common is their remarkable talent. Many of the children have won art and talent competitions across Nigeria.
